Wyoming Goose Hunting
NEWS FOR THE 2011-2012 SEASON
FINALLY! All the hunters in the area have been begging the Wyoming Game and Fish to allow us to start later and hunt later in the season. This is the year! We didn't open until Nov. 19th and the season will stay open until Feb 12 or 15 (they haven't decided which day). Those last two weeks we typically have more geese in the valley than at any other time of the year!! If you have a chance to come for a day in the first two weeks of Feb...give it a try!
New water blind for 2011-2012. We have leased an exceptional water blind for this season. I expect to be able to use it early in the season and very late. Next year we may put aeration in it to keep it open. It is an exceptional early season location!
We welcome Aaron Garcia to our staff for 2011-2012. Aaron is another fantastic person to join the staff and he can flat blow a goose call! He is this year's Wyoming State Champion! He is replacing Matt Stark who went out on his own this year guiding in Canada, Minnesota and Nebraska.

this weekend in Torrington, WY. In the novice division Chad Erdman placed first Paul Newman second and Broc Serres third for a clean 1,2,3 sweep! In the Championship division Aaron Garcia was top man to be crowned Wyoming State Champion! Congrats to all the guys!
Second lodging facility opens this week. Due to overwhelming demand for the lodge HPW will open its second facility this week. The facility is not as large, but will handle up to 8 guests. No pool table in this one, but a large Hot Tub Room will give guests a place to relax after a day of hunting! This facility will be only 10 minutes from our river blinds and much closer to the snow goose fields in the south and again...NO TRAIN NOISE! So if you don't want to stay in town and listen to trains all night give us a call we should have lodging available for your hunt!!
As far as availability I have one weekend available in the main lodge. Jan 27-29 just opened due to a cancelation and it's the only one left so if you need a weekend to stay in the lodge grab it quick! I have other availabilities mid week during the season and I can handle hunters staying in town on just about any day of the season.

This certainly helps, but the other thing is that this particular area has a number of refuge areas set up to give migrating birds resting areas.
Those resting areas coupled with plenty of food crops for them keep these geese in the area for extended periods of time.
We have made efforts to lease and purchase properties that are near these refuge areas so that we always have birds available.
Our great locations as well as seasoned professional guides make your hunt a success. Our guides are expert callers, expert setters, and have large spreads of decoys to fool even the wariest birds.
They will scout relentlessly for the right places to hunt so that they can assure you of the best possible hunt for your day in the field. While not every day is perfect our success rate is extremely high. We strive to bring birds inside 30 yards to give high percentage shots in the front of the blind.

Having just completed my third annual Goose Hunt with you in Torrington, I must say I am already looking forward to the hunt next year. Your new blinds are outstanding and, as usual, the hunting was superb. You have a great location. I have hunted Canada, and several western states, and I truly believe Torrington is one of waterfowling's greatest secrets.
