Wyoming Grouse Hunting

SAGE GROUSE

Wyoming is home to some of the biggest concentrations of Sage grouse in the world! These native birds are hunted on the wide open plains of Wyoming. Although surrounding states have declining populations of Sage grouse, Wyomings Sage grouse populations are steady and in some areas even increasing in numbers. The strutting male Sage grouse makes for an awesome mount! Book this hunt as soon as possible as space is limited.

Wyoming 2008 Season Dates
Sept. 20 to Sept. 30

BLUE GROUSE

Come enjoy the beauty of Wyoming's fall colors in these forested areas as you hunt blue grouse. Blue grouse enjoy the high ridges and open side hills of both Aspen and conifer covered forests. This hunt is absolutely one of our favorites as it combines Wyomings rugged beauty with the upland classic blue grouse! Blue grouse are fun and exciting birds to persue as they dash from cover and fly through,in, and around the standing forest. Although some flushes are easy others will challange even the best shooters.

Due to locations hunted this is typically not a combination hunt.

SHARPTAIL GROUSE

High Plains Wingshooters has aquired some great lease properties to provide you with the opportinty to harvest the native sharptail grouse. You can expect to be hunting wheat strips to wide open crp patches. The hunters ability to cover ground walking will often determine your success. The early shartail season tends to lend itself to less wary birds so book your trip as early as possible. These fun and exciting hunts are easily combined with pheasant, chukar, and quail hunts.
